Whatever you believe you naturally obey; disobedience is an expression of unbelief. Every step of obedience is a step of faith. God relate with us on the platform of faith. Your obedience is an acceptance of the fact that God knows better than you.

It takes God stretching you before you can be spread. Every test in the school of faith centers on obedience. It cost less to obey than to pray. 

And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:22 KJV

What moves God is not your prayer but your obedience. Prayer is never a substitute for obedience because the peak of our walk is pleasing Him. Anytime you receive a promise from the Word of God, look out for the instruction you must obey to commit God to fulfilling that promise in your life.

My spiritual father in faith; Bishop David Oyedepo will always say “any faith that holds God responsible for all the outcome of your life is an irresponsible faith”. Until you take a step God cannot step you forward.

What is Obedience? It means to be dominated and overwhelmed by God and His Word. It means to take His word has the final authority over your life and to respond to its demands. It means total submission to an instruction without analyzing its consequence. The deeper your understanding with God the easier and the more excited you would be to obey Him.

Qualities of Obedience

It has no alteration

Obedience must be total. Not carrying out an instruction fully is as good as not doing it at all. Many people are paralyzed because of their tendency to over analyze issues.

Fear of God

To have the fear of God doesn’t mean to be afraid or to fidgets when you hear about God. It simply means to totally commit to the doing of whatever God command us to do per time. You don’t attract the reward of faith until you respond to the demand of faith which is obedience.

It Confers Dominion

When you are under the dominion of His word all things respond to you. The reason many things are disobeying you is because you are disobeying God also.

For whatever a man sows that he shall reap. Obedience to God compels obedience from the devil. Until the word dominates your life you cannot dominate your world.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 KJV

There is no free man in life; to be lawless is to end as a captive. Those who don’t enjoy being under law will remain low as rulers are made by following rules.

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.  John 5:30 KJV

An illustration of how obedience is very vital no matter how simple it may sound was when i attended a training some years ago. During the break period, I felt like going to take a lunch at the restaurant close to the training center. On my way, the Holy Spirit told me to fast for that day and i was like; am already half way to the place I don’t think I can go back.

On getting to the restaurant, the Holy Spirit whispered again to fast, but the aroma of the food i intend eating has engulfed my thinking. I whispered back to the Holy Spirit; I can’t miss this. You might be wondering what type of food could that be; well, it called Ewa Agoyin and Bread (locally prepared beans).

So I ordered for the food and I ate to my satisfaction. It was when I was about to make payment for the food that I realized that I have no means of payment with me. As i did forgot my wallet containing my money and debit card in the bag at the center. It was then that it dawned on me why the Holy Spirit kept telling me to fast for that day.

Qualities of Obedience of Faith

Excitement 

God’s instruction should be obeyed worship-fully and delightfully. This is the aspect of obedience that touches God directly.  Your service and obedience becomes unprofitable if it carries any element of being a burden.

Willingness

If you are cajoled into doing anything for God it will not bring any reward back to you. Whatever is not done willingly will create room for mistakes at the end. A willing approach to anything in life attracts development. A job that is done just for the pay will never develop you; as you are only earning and not learning.

For if I do these things willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. 1 Cor 9: 17 KJV

Promptness

Obedience deals with how you respond to an instruction. What you don’t dive into early will become belated. You cannot have a flight to catch by 8 pm then get to the airport by 10 pm. Whatever you dived into very late would have lost it relevance in producing maximum result. A delayed obedience is counted as disobedience.

And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God has said unto him Gen 17: 23 KJV.

Conclusion: Your mind is too poor to be followed. Obedience is the only weapon that breaks the protocol of prayer. The natural man is built with the spirit of disobedience at birth; that is the reason you tell a child to do something but does something else and you kept shouting to caution the child.

But it takes having a regenerated mind accessible through new birth in order to live a life of sweat-less obedience. The decision you make today is what determine your description tomorrow because it how you are living that will determine how people will describe you. Obedience is very vital in life and obedience must be total as partial obedience equals disobedience.
