Marriage is gold and like most precious metals you must invest time and resources to secure it and fashion it into a jewel of great price. If a man is not experiencing fulfilment in marriage, it is not because God did not create it to be fulfilling but because man has left God out of marriage.

What most people think is marriage is actually the ceremony called a wedding so they take their time planning for a wedding instead of their marriage. Wedding is just a party where the public gathers to witness the two individuals that are going into marriage together. Marriage comes after the party is over.

That you have a successful wedding doesn’t guarantee a successful marriage life. It is not how expensive your wedding is that determine if your marriage will be successful but it is your preparation for marriage that guarantee a success.

What is then a Marriage?

Marriage is the oldest institution in the world and it has its root in divinity.

And the rib which the Lord God has taken from the man he made into woman and brought her to man. Gen 2:22 RSV.

It is the union, the coming together of two people of opposite sexes to build a God-centered home. I will like us to know that marriage is never a union between two people of the same sex rather such union is known to be an abomination and not marriage.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them. Leviticus 20:13 RSV.

What is not of God is automatic of the devil. Therefore a union that is not of God means the devil is the father and mother in law.

Marriage is a relationship involving two individuals’ spirit, soul and body. For you to have a successful union, all the three nature of man which are spirit, soul and body must thoroughly be put into consideration for successful marriage life.

The Spirit

The spirit of man is the person of the man and God only relate to the person of the man through his spirit. In marriage, both partners must be of the same spirit. They must both be born again becoming new creatures and therefore belonging to the same spiritual kingdom.

Two individual that are of different faith and spiritual kingdom and planning to get married are preparing for strive in such union. Both partners must possess and feed on the same spiritual source to birth a successful marriage.

The Soul

The soul is the mind of a man. And for a successful marriage, both partner must possess the same mindset concerning various matters especially the principles and of the doctrine of Christ.

Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3 KJV.

When the man possesses the mindset of loving his wife and the wife possess the mindset of she submitting to her husband then they will always experience a hitch-free marriage all the days of their life.

The Body

The body is the physical covering of a man. It is the least to be considered among the three nature of man after the spirit and soul but unfortunately, it is the top in rank among the people of the world today. You see a man going after beauty instead of virtue then end up marrying a jezebel.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30 KJV

Not everyone you see in the church is Christian that you sleep in the garage doesn’t make you a car. But in the institution of marriage, your body belongs to each other. And both partners must be ready to share their body.

Conclusion: Scripturally marriage is for a lifetime; so it is important to know what marriage is all about before one says “I Do” to anyone. Marriage is not peculiar to any culture or country of the world. It is heaven’s culture. It is therefore not traditional in any way but scriptural. Since marriage was instituted by God Himself, anyone who wants success in marriage should make God the Centre of such a relationship. God is the only sure foundation for success in marriage.
